MP3 player - headphone socket to car audio line in?
Hi,
Thinking of getting an MP3 player (ipod, sony, whatever - no decision yet) to use in the car. What I'd like to do is connect from the headphones socket to the line-in on the car stereo (need a new stereo as well .... !). Has anyone done this and, if so, is there anything to watch out for? I was wondering about having enough *umph* to drive the line-in etc?? Or am I just showing my lack of knowledge of the whole subject ...?
Advice requested ...
Cheers
Dave

Thanks guys - this way seems a lot easier than trailing wires through the car to a 10 disk MP2/CD player in the boot ... plus you can get as much capacity as you like. Just wanted to check I hadn't overlooked something silly!
Oh, and if you want your MP3 player charged as well, and there are no car chargers available for your model, apparently you can get cigarette to USB adaptors ....

Something like this? (this is for a kenwood head unit, but I'm sure you can get them for other makes).

As Brendan states I did a similar thing. The head unit in the Honda didn't have a specific aux in port (pair of RCA In jacks) so that's why I needed the blitzsafe box.
I would guess that if your head unit has an aux in port then all you would need would be a 3.5mm to twin RCA cable, which you plug into the AUX IN port on the head unit. Job done
Just make sure you use the AUX IN and not the AUX OUT ports, do that and things might get a little upset.
