Another PC Problem
Some of you may remember my post last week about a duff PSU in my new case which thankfully has now been replaced and powers up fine.
However, I seem to have developed a new problem. After switching my motherboard from my old case to the new one for the umpteenth time everything seemed to fire up fine, fans were whizzing away and it all looked hopeful.
The problem though is that there seems to be no video output whatsoever. I have tested 2 different AGP graphics cards and 2 monitors but the machine does not output a single thing
Can anybody offer any suggestions? My fear is that the motherboard has been damaged somehow during transfer but Im open to suggestions!
Thanks
David

Is it actually doing anything more (bootwise) than it did when the PSU was faulty earlier? Is there any HDD activity? Because it sounds like it still isn't posting correctly. Maybe you've had a duff mobo right from the start.

If you have plugged in the floppy drive / ide cables in backwards (I've seen it done), then the machine will appear to power up with the fans going etc, but will not boot or output anything to the vdu...

The machine is now powering the fans up which wasn't happening before the PSU was replaced so that was definately the PSU.
The machine isn't POSTing or making any beeps which makes me think maybe the motherboard is fubared.
May be time for that 64 bit upgrade I wanted

Best thing I ever bought was POST test PCI/ISA card from ebay for £9.99. Post up memory, motherboard and CPU codes even when they are not fitted and you can then reference them in a code book.
Has saved a few PC's from being binned

Well in a strange twist of fate I came home from work in a slightly more logical mood than last night and proceeded to take the whole lot out of the case and fire it up sat on the desk which to my suprise worked absolutely fine
I then put it back in the case and added every single screw one by one booting after each one to isolate it and slowly but surely the system started to work.
I have no idea what was causing the problem but it works now!
