Default Video Editing Help

Hello

I have a video camera with a DV-out and I've connected this to the firewire port of my computer. I've then found some software.

Do I REALLY have to capture the video at "normal" play speed? Can't I just tell it to import and a couple of minutes later it will be done?

I have 9 hours of tape .....

Thanks for your help.

"Video Camera"

I assume you mean like a camcorder, with a digital tape in it...in which case its "theoretically possible" but not available yet I don''t think.

All they'd need do is give the camera enough intelligence to interface to your PC as something like a DAT drive would.

It'll cost ya, gov

Hello

Thank you for your answer. I would of thought it wouldn't be hard to play the tape back at x times original speed and transfer the tape to the computer, but obviously not!

a friend of mine swears by "vegas" video editing software. Once the movie is on your PC, you can do pretty much what you like.

I'm using Premier Elements, same as vegas but I find it easier to use.

I've just changed to an mpeg4 camera and have to change the files from DivX to uncompressed because all of the software out now either hangs or just won't play with divX. I found a nice little app that converts for me without quality loss (unlike windows movie maker bah)

Edited to say you should be able to set in and out points for your capture and walk away ...... at least with Premier you can
