Since i've had my current computer (about 4 weeks) which is running on XP i keep getting messenger service pop up messages.
These pop up every 10 mins or so with similar messages - common 1 is - error code 4312, visit regscan
They all want me to go to a website which i'm dubious about, i've run spyware doctor and found no viruses
can i disable the messenger messages?

Ah, the joy of the Windows Messenger Service.

Have a look here for info on how to disable the windows messenger service, which will stop this little messages from popping up.
