Default program to format your hard drive-needed

Hi,
I have been told that there are programs out there that you just insert the cd and then follow the instructions and it will format your hard drives totally- making it better then a normal format which can leave some traces on-does anyone know what these programs are called or where i can get a copy of them please as i need to format my machine but im using xp and im not sure how i get a DOS window now-doesn't appear as easy as under windows 98 to do-thanks for help

Boot n Nuke is superb

Free, and easy

Beware... it WILL erase absolutely everything on there.


As for a DOS window.... click start -> run -> type "cmd" and press enter

I've used Boot and Nuke in the past, however BE VERY CAREFUL.

As Burr said, it erase absolutely everything, not good if you select the wrong drive or leave it in a machine
