internet connection problem
Having a look at a mates pc as he is having bother getting on line.
It dials up, shows 54kbps but wont connect to any page
I have done a spywear check and there was no prob there.
It is showing the following:
connecting to : site 195.92.168.102 and then shows res//c:windows\system\shdoclc.ddl dnserror.htm microsoft internet.
Is the best thing to try a reinstall of his Wanadoo software ?
It is quite an ols machine running Windows 98 and Wanadoo dial-up.

Error message mentions DNS - have you checked to make sure that your mates PC / broadband modem is connecting properly with Wanadoo. I'd check with them to make sure their service is OK - make sure their DNS is up.
It might be worth turning everything off and re-attaching the broadband modem / router. Once it has booted up, start the PC and see if this cures it.

If it says "connecting to site" I would check you don't have a proxy set within I.E (get to it from Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN settings)
Untick any use a proxy setting if there's one, shut down IE and re-try.

try another dialup isp to see if its a wanadoo problem or his computer/modem
They only cost 1p a minute.
You can normally connect to them using tools, internet options, connections, setup
