Default Firefox and the sidebar

Anyone know how I can disable it?

I'm sick of thinking I'm typing a search, in ebay for example, only to find I've been typing it as a search phrase through my own favourites folder!!!

Thanks

Steve.

I've seen that. My problem is, that if I move my mouse to the very left of the screen, the sidebar "pops out" and selects itself, iyswim, even if I've de-selected it in the menus.

More of an annoyance if anything.

Steve,

if you have no extentions installed (the only other thing i can think of), try posting your problem at http://forums.mozillazine.org/ - it seems to be very active!
