No internet access, but can download e-mails (Outlook) and view other network machine

Anyone have any bright ideas??

I have tried refreshing Winsock, tried with Norton internet security turned off, tried mozilla firefox. Have also tired uninstalling Internet explorer and reinstalling and reinstalling broadband connection. This is all on a friends machine. This machine is the main one.

Internet access etc is all perfect on the other machine (which shares the BB connection with the above machine).

Any help/advice/ideas appreciated

is the pc directly connected to the net via a modem and the other linked via cross over cable?

is the main machine using itself as the default gateway??? (cmd: ipconfig /all)

Could be a worm, had one on my pc that basically just locked your internet access up, you should try running a virus scan with the latest software you have to see if it finds anything.
