Default Norton 2005 working on a ME system??

Laptop went into PC World last week for its annual heath check... came out all fine.
while it was in i had them put Norton 2005 on the system at £24.99 (half price) they did Norton 2004 for me last yea so sd i'll have this years vertion on while its with them.

all week had nothing but problems.. can use the PC fine, but when you go on line... after a few mins the whole PC freezes!!!

only way to sort it is turn it all off.
Last week i did manange to ring through to the help line of PCw.
spoke to a great guy wo said his feeling is ME is not compatible with Norton 2005. even tho ts says its ok on the box.

we uninstalled N/2005 and then installed it. it seemed to work ok then.
but next day back to same problem of it connection up either by OE or IE. get on line.. wait for either Emails to down load or a Window to open.... cursor stops and nothing can be done on the bl**dy.

I've now un installed it and i'm on the NET fine... a lot faster too!!

Now... is N/2005 the problem with ME
and do i just put N/04 back on my PC instead?

anyone else had the same problems?
what do i do with the N/05 that doesn't seem to want to run on the ME system?

Norton what? Internet Security? Personally, I'd run Sygate Personal Firewall and Avast! 4 Home Edition instead. Both free and far less resouce hungry and buggy. Both work with ME which is the worst MS OS of recent memory

Norton and Microsoft. Not usually a good combination. Always had problems especially when you had to upgrade MS O/Ses.

Maybe a known issue with 2005 and ME. Norton website may have a patch for it.

But Microsoft ME isn't know for it's stability. Any slight change on that Operating system and blue screen of death. Nasty and horrible Operating System if you play too much with it. I take it you havn't got Windows 2000? You should find less problems with that O/S.
