At my old workplace.

Stating salary 19-22k - if applicant is very good, then it could be increased to 25k.

The Position

Role: Junior System Administrator

Location: Split between Bourne End and Farringdon Rd Offices, London EC1

Reports to: Senior Technical Consultant


We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Systems Administrator who will assist in developing and maintaining our various computing environments. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong interest for working with diverse computing and networking systems. Our Systems staff must be dynamic, creative, and open-minded thinkers. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to expand and polish his or her skill set in a creative, fast paced environment under the guidance of experienced staff. Candidates should be both skilled and interested in both Microsoft and Linux/UNIX computing environments.

Requirements
· Strong Organisational and troubleshooting skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· 1-2 years experience with Windows environment administration required.
· 1-2 years experience with UNIX or LINUX administration required.
· Strong understanding of TCP/IP in LAN and WAN environments.
· Experience with a scripting language would be advantageous.

Technology Focus Areas
Candidates with experience in the following technology areas will be evaluated first:

· Windows XP/Server systems troubleshooting and maintenance
· Backup System Administration
· WAN networking/troubleshooting experience
· LINUX or UNIX systems troubleshooting and maintenance
· VPN technologies
· LDAP and Active Directory Administration
· Linux/Windows Security
· Routing protocol experience
The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will be to provide overall technical support to the London and Bourne End offices. This consists of:
· Server administration duties
· Network administration duties
· Desktop support duties
We primarily use the following technologies:
· Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, and XP Professional
· Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server
· Microsoft Terminal Services
· UNIX and LINUX
· Samba
· Office Applications including Microsoft Office, MS IE
· Cisco Switches
· Avaya/Lucent Telephony Equipment


Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits for the role are:

· Basic salary, commensurate with experience

· Contributory pension scheme after 3 months service, 5% by both employee and company

· Life assurance

· Permanent Health Insurance

· 22 days annual leave escalating to 24 days after 2 years service.
