Question My laptop dvd rom is fcuked!!

It started to make funny noise and stopped working all together..Its a HP pavilion lappy (14 months old) with a Sony cdr dvd drive..I did have a go at removing it but couldnt get the laptop apart, bugger!!!!

Anybody know how much it costs for a new drive and fitting costs???

Why pay? This plainly wasnt durable and if your supplier attempts to fob you off with 'out of warranty' bollocks then you can take it up with the Trading standards dept at your local authority (County or Metropolitan Borough) or CAB.

You don't need to take the laptop apart the Dvd rom is removable there should be a clip you push it forward and slide the drive out.
If it is still under warranty send the drive back if not you could pick one up on Ebay for about 30 quid

A DVD-ROM is not a consumable item; it has to be durable and in this instance it wasnt.
