A mate is trying to put a cpu in an old pc that accepts amd k5 and k6, Cirus and pentium mmx chips the mobo is an Aopen KX5T 3.5 mobo, he doesnt know if he can get a AMD k6-2 chip in it or if it needs to be a plain K6?

Any ideas?

A K6-2 will be running at 100MHz surely; so he'll need a so-called 'Super-7' board. The K6 ran at 66MHz so it should be ok; easier if it has a soft setup rather than jumpers...

I agree - only the 'super socket 7' board will support the K6 2 as it requires 100mhz
