The mac is going back. Apple support suck bigggg time
Ok peeps, following on from before I rang up and spoke to apple about my £12 upgrade. They are REFUSING to upgrade me because I didnt buy it from them.
Although on the up to date page it doesnt mention anything about this. Im so livid its unbelievable. Just trying to flog me an upgrade @ £80. See Dixons they said. I laughed openly and said you think dixons know ANYTHING about Macs ? So it went in circles. She refused to allow me to complain. Im tempted to throw this thing trough the f'ing window at the Mac Store.
Surely if it doesnt mention that you must order from them, they are breaking the law. Does anyone have the number for complaints dept. Insanely great my **** !!! Tech is good but the support is proper poo.

Sounds like you spoke to someone who didn't quite know what was going on. You do qualify, no matter where you bought it from. Fill in this form and all will be well so long as you bought your Mac after April 12th 2005.

Re the bad support email steve@mac.com I know a few people who have had a response.

Have to agree you got put through to someone who was not at all aware how the programe works.
Regardless of where you purchased the machine, if it was brand new, unregistered and purchased within the upgrade period then you are entitled to a free upgrade.
If it was a used machine, I could see why they might not honor it, but if it was still under the Apple Care warranty, and was originally purchased during the upgrade period then it should still be valid.

If it was a used machine, he could go after Dixons for selling used goods "as new" Stuey, you'll be fine just fill out the form Andy linked to and include a copy of your till receipt.

Please don't think I'm treating you as thick but there are a few numbers to be found on Apple portables, such as wired and wired Ethernet MAC addresses, part numbers, model numbers etc. Have you entered the number displayed when you run System Profiler (it's in Applications->Utilities in case you've never seen it)? It's an 11 character string with a mixture of numerical and uppercase alphabetical characters.

sorry stupid question, but I'sk anyway
is this upgrade a free one, or do you have to pay? Went through and completed the form and went to the Apple check-out where it showed a price to pay of £11.99.
I know that's cheap but, just wanted to make sure.
