Q: How to access files on old WinXP hard disk
A friend has a new hard disk with WinXP installed
He has stuff in his "My Documents" folder he needs off his OLD hard disk (WinXP NTFS), so I connected this old hard disk as a slave.
He can boot WinXP on the new hard disk and see the old hard disk as expected, as E: drive.
The trouble is when he tries to copy the stuff in his "My Documents" folder off E: its saying "Access Denied"
Whats the best way around this ?

Evening!
He needs to log into the PC with full admin rights (Safe mode may be needed if he has WinXP Home) He then needs to "take ownership" of the folder. His old "My Docs" doesn't belong to him naymore and he needs to tell the PC that he is the new owner of these files.
There's good instructions here for you!

the link must refer to WinXP prior to an SP2 installation.
I have WinXP SP2 and can't see this "security" tab in the folder properties - is it in a different place ?
