i'm sure you can.,
cos thats what i did,
had a cd/rw from the manufacturer already installed.
then bought the 108 and just fitted that in and xp read it with ease,
didn't need to do anything else

Simply put yes. But you may need to get your burning software updated from the manufacturers website before you can burn discs again.
