anyone selling their pc tower?
on the look out for a 2nd hand tower, idealy spec something like
256 memory, around 800+ hz processor, 20+ gig h drive. pentium 3
not too fussed about sound or graphics, but anything that isn't inbuilt would be better if i choose to upgrade at a later date. same thing with memory etc, as long as it can be upgraded anything will be considered
don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse etc and i've got a cd writer i can take from my old tower so no need for that either.
i'm a total newbie with computers, so if anything above doesn't sound right/is total bollox, please drag me to one side and beat me around the head with a wet kipper while putting me straight
post up, mail or PM any prices

You would be better to build one yourself, a P3 m/board or old socket 7 motherboard won't be very upgradable.
For a budget machine an £18 motherboard has 6 channel sound, usb2 x8, takes up to DDR400 memory 3GB or 4GB and you can drop a sempron processor running at 2300+ for about £30 and ram is only £11 inc vat for 256.
120GB hard drive for £39 inc vat, and a £10 400w tower off ebuyer.
Then maybe a £25 DVD-RW.
Hardly worth buying an old one is it ?
Oh and the board will take Athlon XP's up to 3400+

i've managed to bugger up a comp by just using it (albeit very wrongly), christ knows what'll happen if i try to make one
your advice is very much appreciated mate, but i really wouldn't trust myself building one and it seems for about 80-100 quid i can take the cowards option of buying one ready to go.
i suppose you take the risks of buying a pile of ****e, but that sounds alot more like my level TBH.
cheers for the bigpockets info bob, i'll keep an eye on that and see if anything pops up

Might be worth watching Dell, I got a machine from them recently for £99. No keyboard, mouse, monitor or software but fine for what I wanted. Nothing fancy, but is doing the job well.
