Playing .mpg in Windows Media PLayer
Alreet chaps - a queer one here.
Why, in Media PLayer, can I not see any .mpg's - I can hear the sound fine but no video is displayed. If I download the file I can then play it in Quicktime, but nothing else. AVI's etc are fine.
It seems to be those that do not buffer the clip but just play it directly - and I get nothing. Any thoughts - I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Media Player (10) but still it refuses to work.
It's got me beat!
Thanks
Andy

aye, sounds like codec issue to me, get on the microsoft site an see if you can update it, and then you could go to www.divx.com and download the divx codecs of there, im not sure if they are only a AVI codec tho. but its worth a go!

try downloading the K-Lite codec pack. it has the vast majority of codec you will ever need. try to download the "full" version. i think it is at the 2.46 stage.

why stick to windows media player
i agree that videolan vlc is much better
i have far less problem with it and can play more types of movie files
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
this is one of the few programs that can play partially downloaded files using p2p
dont think windows can
