Unattended install of XP Pro using answer files?
Basically I want to create an unattended install of xp pro for pc's in work, I have looked up guides of this on the internet and have already made the answer file to do this.
The guide I was reading was explaining how to do this using a boot floppy but every time I did this it would give an error message saying cant run in this version of DOS. I tried many boot disks with cd-rom support.
Can this be done with Just the windows CD and not using a floppy, obviously id have to reburn XP Pro with the files if this was the case. We normally use a network install to do this but some laptops wont play ball due to the network drivers and id also like to use it at home.
the guide I was reading was this:
http://www.uea.ac.uk/itcs/software/x...nd-create.html
any help would be appreciated
cheers

IIRC, if you boot the machine off the Windows CD and then pop in a floppy with the unattend file on it (the file has to have a specific name, which I can't recall at the moment), then Windows Setup should pick up the answer file and automatically install itself.

Depending on how you do this , sorts a lot of your answers.
You create the answer file and bung it in the correct section of the CD , as to get the asnwerfile to automatically , er answer the questions
I used this guide

I could send you a windows pre-installation disc if you like?
Plenty tools on it, including creating unattend.bat discs, resealing PCs etc.
We reburn the intallation disc onto another CD and include all the drivers for the various mobos we build with.
IIRC all we need to do is choose the HDD options at the beginning of the installation, incase a punter wants partitions.
