Anyone play Grand prix legends on windows 2000?
Anyone know how to get this game to work on windows 2000? I know there was a patch that worked for xp (v1.2.0.2) but that doesn't work for me on 2000 and I can't find one that does
Please put me out of my misery
Thanks

That is the patch I have but I still get errors and it won't load I've tried several times and even removing everything and trying again
How did you get it to work?
I installed gpl, downloaded the patch then opened it in winzip and ran it but it still doesn't work.

That's pretty much what I did - But I also disabled AV, firewall and Spybot SD Resident and enabled the indexing.
- I read in the faq that if you have a NTFS filing system you must have the indexing enabled ( My Computer > Local drive(c: ) > Right Click > Properties > check allow indexing ). So maybe thats worth checking out.

I can't show you the error because photobucket is down at the moment
After having a bit more of a play I've noticed that if I just install gpl and no patch then it starts to open then drops out. I install the patch as per above and it comes up with:
Papyru Window: gpl.exe - Unable to Locate DLL
The dynamic link library glide2x.dll could not be found in th especified path
C:\SIERRA\gpl;.;C\:WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT\system; C:\WINNT;C:\SIERRA\gpl;.;C\:WINNT\system32;C:\WINN T\system;C:\WINNT;C:\WINNT\system32\Wbem
Weird because that's where they are

Those weren't the error I got. I got a one upon installtion, and another upon doing teh patch. Some missing .dll but not the one you mentioned. But it works ok
A few other things on my system is that the first 2 attempts at intsall I did a full install. On the third (working) attempt I opted for fast install (runs from CD), so maybe that could make a diference (but it shouldn't). I'm also running it off my scratch hard drive (D) rather than the main hard drive, so have manually specified the directory locations unpon installation...shouldn't make a difference, but you never know.
What version of Directx you running? I'm currently on 9 at the mo
I should add I'm still running a 3dfx voodoo Banshee card in that computer with non-official hybrid graphics drivers. But it still works in software mode.
The fact your missing a glide file would point to some registry or graphics driver problem. Maybe worth checking out a few websites that cater for you graphics cards providing drivers that support win2k (which I did)
Just to compare what I have on my system:
The only place I have the file "glide2x.dll" present is within "C:\WINNT\system32"
upon checking its properties (right click> version ):
Product name: "Glide® for Voodoo Banshee®, Voodoo3®, & Velocity(tm) 100/200; Windows 95®, Windows 98®, & Windows NT®"
Product version is: "2.61.00.0613"
File size 228K (232K on disk)

I did have some problem finding out what the graphics card was on board but I thought I had that solved now I'm running the standard graphics card and it worked with gpl on windows xp but I had to re-build the pc and go back to 2000
I'll have more of a look tonight.
Thanks

I asked my mate, who is a GPL genius and he told me the following:
It's looking for the glide.dll (glide is the graphics accellerator used by the old voodoo cards).
If the dll is in the correct place, first thing to check is that he hasn't got glide selected as his rasterizer (what sort of graphics routine he's trying to use).
Tell him to go into explorer, then go into the directory where GPL is installed and open "app.ini"
Look at the section that says
[Graphics]
lastRasterizerDLL = xxxxxxxx.dll ; Last rasterizer DLL selected
if his one says
lastRasterizerDLL = rast3dfx.dll ; Last rasterizer DLL selected
Then he's got Glide selected as his graphics option, and it won't work unless he's got a voodoo card (unlikely). He should change rast3dfx.dll to rastd3d7.dll or softdll.dll.
Let me know if you have any joy.
Jerry
