VPN connections with OS 9
2 issues really. A client has a user that wants to VPN from his Mac lappy runnning OS 9 into the office to access his desktop PC running XP. How does he create a VPN connection on his lappy and is there an RDP client for Macs?
TIA

There is no in-built support for VPN under OS 9. You'd need to do a web search to find a suitable VPN client for OS 9.
When you say RDP do you mean RDC as in Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client? If so then there is no version for OS 9. There is one for OS X though.
To be honest, it would possibly be better, if the mac supports it, to upgrade it to OS X, preferably 10.4. This has built in VPN support, and as I understand it the VPN side of things now supports NTLMv2, which previous OS X versions did not.
Another solution would be to use VNC, as there are OS 9 clients available. You'd possibly need to open up the VNC ports on the XP machine, but it would allow control. We use VNC here to access our Win 2000 servers. I have an OS 9 and OS X client and just connect to the PC with no problem

Cheers Markus
Yeah, I did mean as in M$ RDP client.
The 10.4 route seems a good idea. What's the upgrade path like with Macs? I think I 've seen you mention a download site on another thread?
Netlock's VPN client seems the best bet for OS 9

First thing I'd do is check the spec of the laptop vs what 10.4 requires.
As for download site, that's for ADC (Apple Developer Connect) members only. You'd need a Premier membership to actually get seed downloads, and that's not cheap, around $5,000 I per year, I think, and so it's not a "general public" download thing. Best thing is to order Tiger (10.4) online, or pop into a local Apple store (or somewhere that stocks Apple software) and pick up a copy, it's $129 US dollars.
