Default good laptop?

starting a part time degree this year so fancy getting a laptop to make things a bit easier for me. also ill have a 2 hour train ride once a week so it will give me some more working time and i can even watch dvd's etc.

it just so happens that my dads work is doing a scheme through BT to get folk into computing, it works out quite well and gets taken off before taxing or something im not sure exactly how it works. its basically a discounted monthly rate for 3 years then the option to buy for 5% or upgrade again

anyway can someone tell me if the following laptops are any good? im not sure if ill be allowed to open it up and upgrade as its leased so probably be better to go for the first one eh? they have more expensive fancy ones but i dont want to pay more than £15 a month

I'd take the top choice for the extra £2 or so a month.

A Celeron 1.4Ghz isn't going to set the world on fire but as it's got 512MB RAM, it'll quite happly cope with things like Word, Excel and web browsing. The integrated graphics should cope with DVD playback but don't expect to play games with them. 60GB drive means more space to load it up with some music.

ive got a decent pc at home so its really just something for typing up reports on the train, listening to music or watching dvd, surfing occasionally. nothing too heavy and certainly no game playing. i know the prices are highly inflated but the fact you can pay it at 0% over three years similar to a leased car is quite tempting.

anyone aware of any other bargains out there?
