Default No internet connection

I have had a virus on my laptop (sent via MSN) which I cleaned by using Panda AV as AVG didn't pick it up.

I turned off System Restore while scanning. When I re-booted I got this error message.

run.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.

I now can't get a connection to the internet. The laptop is wireless to router via Lynksys Access Point.

run msconfig and find that run.exe in the startup folder then untick it.... you've not cleaned your system fully yet... you need to get some spyware sweepers running AND an AV package in your p.c. sharpish

I have loads of SpyWare sweepers running. It shows now that I have a load of trojans running, NOTHING will delete them. Am pulling my fecking hair out now!! SpywareGuard is popping up every minute, saying my 'search engine' is trying to change to a BHO [Browser Help Object].

Have run..
Ad-Aware
SpyBot
SpySweeper
AVG

Nothing gets rid of it.

Sounds like your firewall might be dodgy, (denying the browser etc connection to the internet). Did you try turning it off before removing panda?

As for the spyware, have you tried Microsofts anti-spyware tool. I've found it works better than any of the others...

I can get past the firewall now, since I deleted Panda. Internet connection is ok now. It's just the bl00dy pop up windows from SpyGuard thats doing my head in.

Asking if I want to change my search page....

I feel like kicking someone so hard in the fecking bollocks!

Go to the trend micro web site and do a full virus scan using their homecall software. AVG which was once one of the best antivirus packages, is now nothing more than a target for viruses to bypass due to its popularity, as was the case with Norton many years ago.

Any pop ups requesting the homepage or your internet settings be altered are due to spyware. Install and run Ad-Aware Pro to remove this timewasting junk.

I keep running Ad-Aware, but whatever it is keeps replicating itself.

That has been the most fecking awful thing to get rid of. Whatever it was, it was just pure evil.

It produced loads of viruses/trojans & browser tool bar programmes and kept replicating.

I finally got some expert help from a fantastic PC forum called

CyberTech Help

The expert who helped me was so clear and helpful with his instructions.
