Cool Apple Tiger aka OS X 10.4

I'll be in the queue on Friday to get it.

Question is, is it better to do a clean install or an update? With Spotlight I'm assuming that doing the indexing may take a very long time.

Just wondering.

I've always done an upgrade with Macs in the past, this time however I am tempted to do a clean install. No real reason for it, just would like to give Tiger a fresh machine to go on.

When it turns up* I'll be doing an upgrade. This will be on one of my test machines, so I'll see how that goes. If you've been running the developer seeds you will need to do a complete reinstall as the release version will not upgrade over the dev seeds, this is one of the reasons I did not update my main machine to Tiger.

*This is a bone of contention here. One would have thought that Apple might like to let it's developers, who have had access to the dev seeds, download or obtain the final release of Tiger BEFORE it ships to the world at large. you know, it's a crazy idea, but testing your software on the final release of an OS is usually a good thing as you're never sure how tiny little changes could effect things. Espeically if your software happens to tie in very closely with the underpinnings of how the OS works. I don't believe that I'm alone in this opinion, if the macfixit reports are anything to go by!
