Default Mcafee IN sec suite ver 7.0 Uninstall / Install issue

Hello

I wondered if anyone has had a similar experience to mine or if Jack the Mcafee guru was about

I'm trying to uninstall internet security suite 6.0 and install version 7.0

I have been to "add remove programmes", click on the mcafee icon and the followiung appears
"In order to uninstall Mcafee security center, you need to uninstall all mcafee services first"

So I did a seach of "mcafee" and various folders popped up which i deleted apart from one called Mcafee.com this is located in "Programme files" I try to delete this folder but get the following message box pop up
"error deleting file or folder", cannot delete mcagent.exe access is denied. Make sure disc is not full or write protected and that the file is currently not in use.

Has anyone else had a similar problem or can advise how I get past this

Thanks in advance

Try booting into safe mode (F8) and then deleting the mcafee folder from program files, Rebooting and then trying to install IN sec suite.

That message means you should remove the other programs listed in Add Remove Programs before removing Security Center. First step would be to go there and give it a try. Next step would be to try the version 7 install anyhow.

Hi Jack

I tried that

I have been to "add remove programmes", click on the mcafee icon and the followiung appears
"In order to uninstall Mcafee security center, you need to uninstall all mcafee services first"
That is the only mcafee programme left in "add/remove programmes"

Or am i doing something else wrong lol

I've had issues before where the factory fitted 3 month installation (dell pc) was conflicting with the full version i bought, but i believe i have rid the machine of that. then i tried loading verion 6.0 over the trial version and the trial version still took over, some how i think the trial version is involved still.

I will try to install the new one all the same

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Make a note of the errors then go to www.mcafeehelp.com pick any question and say it didn't answer your problem, you'll be shown a 'Chat' option, one of our support people will sort it out for you, they have a tool for cleaning up the registry.
