svchost.exe problem
A client has a server running SBS 2000 that in the last week has developed a serious degradation in performance. The culprit seems to be svchost.exe of which there's several instances running. One of these keeps using more and more memory; over 240MB when I got to site this arvo. It had reached 80+Mb after a reboot and a couple of hours. Taskmanager shows the process as running for hours whereas the other instances have litte or no time. Sounds like a virus but Trend ServerProtect hasn't detected anything, neither has the latest Stinger, didn't have time to try anything else. There was some adware/spyware about but hopefully that's gone. In the lastweek or so this server has had Backup Exec upgraded to V10 and pile of critical windows updates applied.
Does anyone know what's causing this problem and how I can fix it?
TIA
Mark

SG:
Only one svchost.exe apparent of system. Updated Windows 2k, Backup Exec, Java runtime and even binned Terminal Services (apparently has a memory leak problem with w2k sp4). Manually killed the process. System seems stable ATM
