Question Video decompression

I've got some video files from a digital camera that I want to edit with adobe premier but I need to decompress the files before importing .

Does anyone know of any software that will decompress mpeg video files ?

I'm not after a codec but a stand alone program .

Cheers ,

Martin .

Martin,

Welcome to ScoobyNet

Where are the source files from; digital still camera, MicroMV tape, DVD camcorder?

What format are they in? MPEG-1, 2, 4?

QuickTime Pro will decompress MPEG into DV for editing by your DV editor of choice. I'm sure there are plenty of other (perhaps free) apps. that people can suggest.

Cheers!

Alex ,

They're from a digital stills camera ( fuji finepix 601 ) , don't know which mpeg format they're in but I've got a bit of software that should tell me , just haven't had time to try it .

Will investigate QuickTime pro , but free is better (limewire!) .

Cheers ,

Martin,

Take a look at VirtualDub. It's free and sounds like it might do what you want.

Just to clarify, you weren't intending to use a P2P network to obtain a pirated copy of an application were you
