Question PC or PS2 for games

What is better for the same game?
A PS2 or a reasonably high spec PC (3.2 P4 HT, radeon X600 128mb) ?

Splintercell seems pretty good on PC, which is what prompted my question.

I've played SC on both an Xbox and PC, but prefered the control method of the Xbox controller.
Although I did start playing it on the Xbox quite a while before the PC so maybe I'd just got used to the Xbox way of controlling Mr Fisher?

The short answer is a modern PC *should* always look better than a PS2 game as a modern PC has more advanced hardware than a PS2 (the PS2 has been out for approx 5 years now and its hardware hasn't changed)

A PS2 game is written to run on a hardware spec that has never changes in all those years
A PC game is written to run on a hardware spec that changes ever couple of months (new PC graphics, processors, come out all the time)

Its a costly business making sure your PC is powerful enough to run the latest game. Ths PS2 doesn't have this problem.

Personally I prefer a PS2 these days to a PC for games.

Depends entirely on the game. I've got an xbox, gamecube, ps2, and a reasonably quick pc (2.5 P4 with a X800XT platinum). The pc is the king for fps games, warcraft / rts games etc, and the consoles are better for the more arcadey type of games, (GT4, PGR2, Wrestling / fighting games etc).

Get one of each like me, then you're covered

I've got all 3.

I enjoyed splinter cell on the PC, but haven't tried it on the consoles.

I agree that the PC is better for FPS games.

John.
