Default Moving ISP... any recommendations

I'm currently with Nildram on their 512k unlimited download service for about 22 quid a month. Now I've never had a bad thing to say about these guys in terms of customer service quality and connection reliabilty.

However...

I've been looking at upgrading recently and I can see that you can get 2mb speeds for similar costs to what I pay per month now. I've looked on ADSLguide.org.uk to try and see who is recommended etc but I'm not convinced one way or another.

I don't download a lot... certainly not more than 10gb a month. normally about 2gb a month and would like to get a reliable provider for a decent price. 2mbs sounds great... but will that equate to approximtely 4 times quicker internet? is it that simple?

Any pointers?

Nildram?
Eclipse?
Freedom2Surf?
Pipex?

Any help would be great, thanks.

If you only use that much a month, might be worth trying PLusnet.

very reliable service, good support and from April, their new MaxDSL will give you the top speed your exchange/line can support - up to 8mb!!

There is a 30gb 'softcap' - like a 3 times are you're..er....downgraded for a while

oh, and it's 21.99 a month

No worries.

As I say, I've had very few problems. I think I've had 3 times when I could get net access in 2 years...and that was only an hour or two in the early days.

They won Best ISP last year / 2003 but have slipped down the rankings a bit now...though I still recommend them. In fact, if you sign up, PM me for my referall e-mail addy (which isn't why I'm recommending them BTW!!)

There 'cap' lost them a few customers...but only those who download over 100gb a month!

For customer service, I cannot fault NDO.

V21 Claim to be best value - either £15.99 or £16.99 for 512 unlimited. I've used V21 for ISDN for 3 years and after some early problems they've been very reliable. Will be moving across to their broadband when we get access later this year.
