Question Ext H/D not recognised

Hi,
Hopefully a simple fix!
Have been using an external hard drive (laptop in a case 60G), and it has worked fine on a laptop and a desktop. However, it is not recognised on my new desktop. Running XP SP2.
The drive just clicks, like it is low on power. Tried plugging both leads into the rear USB, as well as the front. Is it possible there is not enough pwr?
The machine is a 3 Ghz, P4, 1G RAM!

Any checks/thoughts welcome.

yes, probably low on power. can you piggy some power from the PS/2 socket?

60G hdd does take more juice and even a bit more if spinning at 5400rpm. i notice not all usb port are giving out the right power to power external hdd enclosure. so it's a hit and miss situation.
