Default Firewall not allowing web access to laptop

Having a little hassle getting my laptop talking to the web through a gateway on my desktop.
Adsl line connected to desktop
1394 connection from laptop to desktop.
Panda Platinum 2005 antiviri /firewall.

With all the AV and firewall settings turned on on the latop, and "just" the firewall turned off on the desktop I can browse the web fine.
As soon as I turn on the desktop firewall It shuts off the connection for the laptop.

What program should I be looking to stick in the "allow through list" on the desktop as nothing is standing out from the crowd.

You could try something like ZOne Alarm. I think it may still be free for home use although i am not sure ?

I'd rather stick with what I paid for (Panda Plantinum 2005) and use it's own firewall.
Works fine when using the desktop, everything can be kept quite tight.
But trying to use the the laptop through my desktop to get at the net requires me to completely drop the firewall on the desktop as I can't see what program it needs to let through.
Even hints at what the program "might" be may be of help??

Can you specify the IP Address of your Laptop within the "allow" settings of the firewall?

I set a "rule" to "allow communication" from 192.168.0.30 (my lappy IP ) using the network adapter "access runner" (the only choice.. I thought this should be the "1394 net adapter" but it's not in the list ) over all protocols..

Still no joy.

Panda's online tech help glosses over a "cant access the net or local pc's" section and has a little download program to run.... it didn't change anything.

Just had a "network virus pop up" to tell me that it was blocked, the firewall was down at the time as I was surfing on the laptop.

At least it still blocked it. (LSASS/code exploit)

Are you running XP?

If so, is the standard XP Firewall on? Are you running XP SP2?
