Default Discovery SMS 2003

Quick question for anyone who admins SMS2003. Is it possible to create custom classes, and if so is this a supported activity?

David, yes I have, not sure it helps though. I'm not an SMS admin, but here is the issue.

G_SoftwareFile class holds all the crap installed on a pc, however it is too much info. A script is being applied to the data to filter, manipulate and create a new sql table. I have a 3rd party vendor SMS integrator that needs to talk to a class via the SMS api. So can the table being created mimic a class in some way.

And before you suggest only capturing what i need, that is not an option, nor is metering.

No,

It cant mimic a class.. Im assuming the classes are defined in the schema.. ive just trashed my server and rebuilding it as we speak.

What specific info do you want to get? and how does your 3rd party software integrate..

IE could it be pointed at an 'SMS query' rather than a different table??

My integration adapter uses the binaries installed with the admin console, basically views the classes through the SMS api.

Basically the client wants to capture all files installed on a pc for SMS purposes, but only wants Applications(MS Office etc) for Asset Management. I have done a preliminary investigation and viewed 800 pc's and this returned 1.7 million rows of data. As they have 8500 pc's, I want them to filter the data at source otherwise the data transfer will run all week!!!

looks like they'll have to licence the SQL adapter too!!
