Bluetooth GPS recievers?
Having inadvertantly completely damaged my wired GPS reciever I use with TomTom on my PDA I'm in the market for a bluetooth varient rather than have all those wires all over the inside of the car.
I've looked on Ebay and there's a bewildering array of them for sale.
Is there anything specific I should be looking for? The prices seem to range from £50 upwards of £150?

If you get one, check out the battery life and the in car charging options.
I hate my BT receiver and wished I'd bought a wired one.
Battery life is only 4-5 hours so on long trips (or medium return trips), the battery gives up.
So I now have a BT reciever with a 4" charge cable, into a USB extension, into the Arkon mount and it's a frikkin mess.
The BT drops out and needs the PDA to be reset to get back on, a real PITA at motorway services etc where I wouldn't leave the PDA in the car.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great technology but doesn't really meet my needs, it'll be up on ebay when I get a wired one...

I have a Rikaline reciever which fits in the top slot of my DellX5 - it uses the battery power of the PDA and when it's taken out of the car it can be used when walking about. It also has another dash reciever which boosts the signal (this plugs into the reciever in the top of the PDA) but tbh it doesn't need it

got one of these off ebay for £65. Good thing is it uses rechargable AAA batteries so you can always buy some if you're stuck without a charge....
Problem with my car is that the lighter socket is beside the handbrake and I've got a heated windscreen so the gps unit has to go right in the corner of the screen so I can't really plug in the charger while I'm using it..

I've got the variant before John's - GR230 and overall, I've been impressed with it. I've never tested battery life scientifically, but it was on pretty much all day (say 7 hours) during a return trip to Leeds form the south-west and then it got me into London the next day without recharging it.

I have the holux one which performed well
I however decided to replace it with the CF card adapter one from Holux
As said above it stops all the potetial power issues on long journeys and it makes it a total hand held unit as well
I have the Blue tooth one in doors if your interested in a 2nd hand one
