Fix my PS2?
Who can fix my PS2 for me in the mid essex area?
I have raised this before and someone suggested that the laser just needs realigning.
It will read cd's and cd-r's but not dvd's or dvd-r's. That not true actually......it will SOMETIMES but only after repeated resetting.
It has <cough> been chipped <cough>

It's a very well known problem with the PS2 - chipped or not. Sometimes the laser can be adjusted but if it is the Disc Read Error it's fecked....
I just bought 3 ps2's on ebay that were not working - gonna cobble them together so I have one good one for GT4 when it arrives
With new slimline ones being 99 quid - you may be best to just get rid.....esp. if it is chipped (altho the slimline ones are quite tough to do as they have something inside which breaks when they are opened so chipping is harder but not impossible). New laser is close to 50 quid so hardly worth it.

Mine does this, and how I fix it is to have an ear to the casing, listen for the disk whirring and then give it a bloody good shake and hey presto it spins up properly Probably does need the laser re-alligning but have no idea how to do that so a good shake does the trick.
