Recommendations on DVD authoring software
We need to compile our own video and burn to DVD with the option of creating menus. Currently use an old version of Pinnacle which is dump (rubbish)
any suggestions welcome

Depends on how creative you want to be. You can use an all-in -one package like Ulead as mentioned above. This will give you a number of preset templates for menus, but that's about all. Alternitivly, if you want to get into more detail on authoring and want to create some professional looking DVD then you need a dedicated athoring package. I recoment DVD Lab (either standard or pro, depending on what you want to do) from http://www.mediachance.com. With this you will need to have your assets (video, audio, stills) already converted to DVD compliant files.
Vegas Video 4 is an edditing package rather than authoring. It's very good though.
Let me know if you have any questions on this. It's a bit of a hobby of mine..
Cheers

I use Adobe Encore (and Premiere pro to edit the video). Can't fault it, and I can produce very professional results with it. Bit pricey though (you don't say what your budget is)...
Cheers, it's for semi-pro use at work so budget is not too much of an issue. I can buy Encore 1.5 for £268 & Premier Pro for £365 so not *too* bad
