I use the open source Dot Project software for project management across our network. (www.dotproject.net). But I have not yet seen any open source software for creation and management of bills of materials. It would seem a perfect application for a mysql database with php frontend, in the same style as Dotproject and many others.

Background:
Mechanical design, almost entirely in 2d still. Using Autocad LT98. (Remember that?). Bills of material not associative with design, instead they are currently typed-up on Excel.

Anyone know of anything open source that I should look at?
