Default Using Xbox for playing DVDs

Does anyone have the DVD playback kit for their Xbox? is it any good, and most importantly will it play DVDR's?

Not sure about DVDR's, but it certainly is as good as a top spec Sony DVD player I used to have

It's a little more noisy than a standalone dvd player but the quality is excellent and with the appropriate cables it'll output 5.1 sound as well.

DVD-R movie backups will play fine on an unmodded XBox. Stick to good quality media though.

One of the reasons I chose the Xbox over a PS2 was for the quality of the DVD playback, as its used as a DVD player from time to time.
Very happy with the quality of the playback, yes it is a little noisy but mine is tucked away behind a glass screen/cabinet under the telly so not an issue.
