How to I remove these programmes?
OK - I've been trying to clean up my PC. Now have Spyboy and Adaware. Recently got Broadband and I have identified 2 programmes which are running in background which seem to activate when I go on line and try to import stuff and generally slow things down. I have found these by using CTRL-ALT-DEL and if I close them down on start-up the PC is fine. Trouble is they come back when I turn on PC next time. They are "Loadqm" and "Smc[not responding]". How do I get rid of them - that is assuming they don't do anything useful? I guess they are associated with some programme which I can remove or uninstall but I haven't a clue which programme.
Advice please. Note I have a pile of other stuff running in background on start-up. I am sure most of it is just slowing things down but how do I find out what they are/do? Thanks PC peeps, David PS - Windows ME

loadqm.exe is a part of the MSN entertainment suite. It is the MSN Queue Manager Loader, a service that is installed with either MSN explorer or messenger.
smc.exe is a part of the Sygate Secure Enterprise, more specifically the firewall product. This piece of software blocks attacks from Internet-bound viruses and hackers. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated
Just google for the files and you'll be able to find out what they are.
