Networking a printer
We currently have a HP PSC2170 printer/scanner combo connected to the main household pc via USB which is no problem as it sits on a desk right next to the computer.
Now the rest of the computers (1 pc connected to a linksys router via ethernet and 2 laptops running linksys wireless cards) can use this no problems when the computer is on but if I want to print something quickly from the laptop at lunchtime its a bit of a long process to upstairs and boot the main computer etc.
Is there any way to make this work without the main pc being on. The downstairs computer is generally on all the time but we ideally want the printer still upstairs which poses a problem - are there any ethernet -> usb type solutions available which may work?
Cheers
David

That printer only has a USB connection so I think you may have to bite the bullet and bring it downstairs unless you can find a USB Print Server like this one:

If you wanted a wireless one then you could try this one

No association to company. Just did a search on the web.
Good luck!
