Default Signing in and out of MSN / .NET passport

Why is it when you try and help someone else out that's having problems, it never just goes smoothly.

Work collegue having a problem with getting mail from a particular address test mail sent to myself and returned fine so assumed it was the other blokes server..
So...
Had a brainwave and installed MSN messenger.
Signed up for the .NET passport as it goes along in the same setup process.
made the address the default sign in address for NET passport and then moved onto setting up the Hotmail address.

Problem..
Turn pc on and connect to his ISP, MSN messenger starts it's login procedure and then pops up you are or have signed in on another computer etc, so logon to MSN fails..
Force a sign in and assume it signs you out of the "other" connection as it all goes ok. MSN starts and shows "no new e-mail messages"...
Now I know there is mail there as I've sent something to it for a check.
So click the "no new mail messages" to link to Hotmail website and then it pops up a "sign in to NET passport"...

Sign into that and I get signed out of MSN ARRRGGGGHH

Previous to install of MSN 6.2 I removed access to windows messenger by program access and defaults area in control panel and added a regedit in local pc >software >microsoft >Outlook express (Dword) "Hide Messenger" value 2....

Where did I **** up.

Made it sound like you were connecting 3rd party like. I must say, I did have this problem myself a few years back. A new registration/name solved the issue.

well that's kinda out of the question... it's his business name..

Well confused..

Is there a wayt of turning off automatic sign in to the .NET passport service??

I've looked for it in the index services.
I was waiting for auto updates to complete as well (one of those users who never update anything )

I thought the .NET service was an add in that could be "add removed" but alas it wasn't in there unless it came under the tab of one of the "hotfix's"
