How many fans do you have ?
After recently doing a few upgrades I noticed my PC case was running rather hot and you could fry an egg on the hard drive. With a few choice cooling mods I now have 7 fans running They are :
Power
CPU
Graphics
Case Inlet
Case exhaust
Hard drive cooling *2
Tested last night and its above room temps but not to bad in comparison to before. Only problem it sounds like take off when you turn the thing on.
Anyone know of 500w power supplies that are quiet ?

Building a faster (and quieter pc) at the mo. But previous:
6 case fans (came with them so who was I to argue)
1 cpu fan (delta very loud)
PSU
GFX Card
Chipset
And Im sure there is a little fella on the back of my CDRW drive.
No I dont overclock. Only one u really hear is the delta.
Ive bought an X-pro 460w silent psu for new build. Still waiting on mobo and cpu delivery so will let ur know re: how quiet when I put it all together.
Simon.

2x 80mm case fans
1x cpu
1x system exhaust blower
1x psu
Swapping over to 3x 120 mm case fans on a controller and custom built ducting so all I should hear is the PSU on normal mode and not alot more on Full load mode.
And yes it sounds like it is about to take off!!! and I am intending to overclock, currently 1800 XP running as a 2000XP.

Thermaltake's "Smart casefan II" are the best fans IMHO. They have thermal sensors which vary the speed of the fan according to temp.
EG:
When not playing games:
CPU fan @ 2000 RPM & 4 case fans @ 1300RPM, CPU @ 40deg C
When playing games for more then 40 minutes:
CUP fan @ 2400RPM & 4 case fans @ 1700RPM, CPU@ 48deg C
I'm going to swap out my northbridge cooler for a zalaman passive one, as the current stock one if the loudest fan in the system.
When cooling a PC there are 3 main areas to think about:
1. Heatsyncs - are they able to dissapate enough heat with lower speed fans? - a great make is thermalright (from www.overclockers.co.uk).
2. Ambient temp - is there enough air flow through the PC to keep the ambient temp down to roughly room temp +4
3. Filtration & cleanliness - the build up of dust & crap on components greatly reduses their ability to dissapate heat (bit like you wearing a jacket on a summers day). Filtering the air as it enters the PC or cleaning it out every couple of months are your only options.
If anyone has any questions about AIR cooling give me a shout. It's quite an art to get working well.

I'm trying to work out what to do with all the spare space in the case!?!!
I think and SLI mobo will help with 8 SATA drives, 2x PCIE gpus, and some water cooling....
