Default IPOD Help

Hi guys

Just recently when I sync my ipod with the PC it takes a lot longer before giving me the following warning

\Ipod_Control\Device\SysInfo is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chk Dsk Facility

Then it syncs !!!!

Now I have run this on the PC [XP Pro] I have typed Chk Dsk in the Run box but I am not sure this is right

it certainly hasn't fixed the error

Any Suggestions?

Hi Phil,

Looks like your Ipod software is corrupt - try uninstalling the software and reinstalling.

That would be my guess, as I run mine on a Mac.....

Hope this helps though

No it's a seperate program called iPod Updater, you need that to upgrade the firmare on the iPod.

Having the latest version of iTunes can only help though.

Phil,

Have a look at this "http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthr...threadid=66101". It may give you some idea's.

Personally I'd try resetting the iPod. Checkout the toubleshooting guide in the back of the iPod user guide for updating info.

Never seen this error on mine Phil, I've had a 40Gb 4th gen iPod working with my PC up until yesterday when i swapped it over to my Mac. I needed to reformat/update it with the Mac version of the updater but it works fine.

Have you tried asking on the forums at iPodlounge?

Bit of discussion here
http://www.ipodsoft.com/forum/forum_...142&PN=1&TPN=1

Mooching around on Google, it looks like a few people have reported corruption of this file in their iPods, usually after fiddling or hacking it though. How about re-installing the latest iTunes and iPod Updater, then doing a full reformat/restore and firmware upgrade of the iPod again?

Apple are working on it

Soft or Hard restore temp removes it

Thanks guys

Hmmm, mine isn't doing it and it's on the latest firmware.

Not yet anyway....

Maybe it's a PC thing
