Default Apple store, Regent Street

For Christmas i got an Apple iPod G4 20gb with my name engraved on the back...Dazza for Darren and the line underneath i got SC008Y MAD

I also got the iDock and the iSkin eVo2 blue case for it.

On New Years Eve my parents and i went up to London mainly to see a show...Mamma Mia @ the Prince of Wales Theatre (near leicester Square), anyway whilst we where up in London i wanted to go into the apple store in Regent street and have a marvel at their store to see what all the fuss was about. WOW. what a loverly and sophicitated (sp?) and elegant store and layout. Glasss stairscae, metal, chrome, etc...a really nice store. Whilst i was in their i tried the Power Mac G5...amazing! with two 30" monitors attached - i got lost on the screen I tried the Powerbooks really cool especially the 12" one...cute.

went up stairs to the iPods and tried out the headphones as i hate the std apple ones. i am planning on getting Sennheiser PX-100 Headphones or the Sennheiser PXC 250 with NoiseGard Technology. Not sure what yet.

Anyway the store is well worth a visit even if your not a Mac fan or you have not got an iPod.
I am a Mac fan and are very tempted to change to one hopefully in the near future from PC.

I've been there too mate, spent an hour wandering around and got my 20 gb Ipod at the same time as its the only place that had stock. I want a g4 powerbook, but need a new car and house first so can't justify 3k on 1. I calculated I could have spent 14k in there

Have seen pictures of the new RS Apple Store, very nice. There's a nice store in TO called Carbon Computing, very nice, they are authorised Apple Resellers, but it's not an 'official' Store as such.

I've been in a few Apple stores before and they are just as nicely designed as the products themselves.

I recall pricing out a nice system for my desk in the office (Dual G5, max memory, twin 30" displays, bluetooth keyboard and mouse), shocked the boss when I droped the 'wish list' on his desk

If the 'headless' sub $500 imac rumors are true, I might get one of those for the office, would be nice.

Jobs' Keynote is Tuesday (11th) at 9am PST (5pm GMT) but unfortunately there's no live webcast this year

Try irc.arstechnica.com #macintosh or http://www.macminute.com or http://www.macnn.com if you want to follow it by live text commentary.

There'll probably be a QuickTime stream available at http://stream.apple.akadns.net sometime later in the day or on Wednesday.

I'm sure something very significant is coming as Apple have just dropped the pricing on loads of things. You can now get an ibook for around £600.

Yes lots of rumours of the return of the LC style Macs or a cube return. Thats would be cool as I have both of the above, along with some PowerBooks, a G3 and a G5.

Having read a few of the rumour sites, supposedly we'll be seeing:

- 5GB iPod Mini
- 1 and/or 2GB flash based iPod
- headless Mac <£500
- hardware to use with Garageband, complimented with Garageband 2
- iLife 05
- Keynote 2
- iWork 05

Less likely, but still a good bet:

- faster Powerbooks (G5's?)
- Dual 3GHz G5's

Should be a good one then

A G5 Powerbook would be nice They would have to sort out the heat problems first though.
