McAfee can't contact the internet ..... ?

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago the 'Updates' feature of McAfee 9 stopped working. Whenever I tried it I got a 'Unable to contact the internet' message back. Now McAfee may have had trouble doing just that but there was no problem with the connection as I was surfing the net and getting email at the time ...

Tried a virus scan, with McAfee and several online checkers, as well as Adaware (with latest data file). I've also followed all the suggestions in the 'what to do if this error occurs' FAQ at McAfee.

So, anone got any bright ideas before my virus checker gets well out of date ...???

Are you using a firewall? And, is it blocking or allowing
C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\Agent\mcupdmgr.exe

Cheers Jack. That was the problem. BUT dunno why things changed 'cos I hadn't altered my firewall settings (Zone alarm).....
