Default TomTom GPS

I have a problem with my Tomtom Wired GPS, It Doesn`t appear to be picking up anything off the receiver. Receiver LED is flashing but no data is making it through to the gps util. i`m using an Ipaq 4700. I did search the threads and one mentioned the connection settings. But didn`t say if that helped or not. Any one else out there had the same problem. Or is it Buggered.
