Default microfilers - broadband
so did I need a microfilter on every telephone socket including the socket I use for broadband ?

And buy decent ones I bought some cheap filters and my broadband connection kept dropping whenever I used the phone.

Yep, every socket with a phone. You don't really need one for the modem/router. I used the old cable for the 56k modem instead as all the filter does is convert the BT plug to a RJ11 on the adsl connector.
