Monitor refresh rates
I have a Sony Trinitron 17-inch CRT (E230) and if i press the menu button on the screen it reports the refresh rate as 60mhz. However if i look in monitor properties i have it at 75 mhz. The monitor didn't come with any driver disks as it says in the documentation that it doesn't need any as it's pnp/ddc compatible. In properties however it reports a windows driver and it says it's working properly. The graphics card is a radeon 9800np flashed with the pro-bios using omega drivers.
Under monitor properties it says the monitor doesn't support DDC and the box is greyed out. Also it reports a frquency of 60mhz.
I have tried using refresh force but it comes up with an error message saying that a default monitor is active.
Can anyone help my confusion as the monitor is capable of more than 60mhz and is causing me to feel a bit funny playing HL2

and download Refresh Force. It's a little utility that shoehorns refresh rates whether your system likes it or not !!

What is the desktop refresh rate set to in Display Properties-Settings-Advanced-Monitor?
Windows XP sets the refresh rate for Direct3D games to 60hz. You have to set it to a higher one by going into Display Properties-Settings-Advanced-Displays & then select your monitor's tab & set it up in there.
