Wierd things going on in steam

Wierd things going on in steam
ing pile of poo that is Valves Steam system.
When I load up it takes in excess of 5 mins to connect and then when my server window opens up on Favs it shows 98% of them as not responding. If I refresh nothing updates, but if I go into the inrternet list it has over 800 servers (Europe only) with all the info there.
The wierd thing is tho I can find the servers listed in my favs and they all show the latencey number of players maps ect fine in the internet window but not in favs.
Any one got any ideas?
Also after using steam Firefox and explorer cant resove hosts for any website atall???
