Default getting rid of program in start menu

How do you get rid of a program in Start Menu/all programs? i want only to open this programs from my computer/C/programs files. I do not want it to appear on the start menu program list or at least i do not want it highlighted. If i attempt to delete it from start menu it comes up with 'Modifying this program will affect all users of this computer'
1/ how can i delete it
2/ will i be able to access everything from the program files location like i can from the start menu (it looks like i can but it is less clear to me which icon does what)
3/ how can i stop this new program being highlighted on the start menu
cheers
Michael

Right Click then "remove from this list" If it is on the start bar. If it is on the programmes bar then right click and "delete"
You are only deleting the shortcut so functionality is not affected.
