Default mySQL on OS X

Help!

Tearing my hair out, I have installed mysql 4.1.7 and it seemed to install OK, the install notes tell me that installation needs a user named 'mysql' which will exist by default, well it doesnt show in system prefs, if I try and issue the first command it tells you to run:

sudo /Library/StartupItems/MySQL/MySQL start

but then it prompts for a password and can I find what the default one is? It says there are two root logins with blank password but I have tried 101 different things but to no avail, any ideas anyone?

cheers

Gary

Gary,
The password is coming from the 'sudo' command. The password you need to enter is that of a local Administrator account.

Have a look in "accounts" in System Preferences. Under the names of the users it should say "Administrator" or "Standard". You want to enter the password for one of the accounts that has "Administrator" udner it.
