Ati Radeon 9800 Pro or NVidia 6600 GT?
Currently have a 9600pro but needs an overhaul. Mobo only running AGP 4x - I assume 8x cards will run fine on this?
Cant afford to upgrade PC at the moment but want to buy a graphics card with a future PC upgrade in mind.
The 9800 pro is a solid performer and can get for under £140 now. However the 6600 GT at around £158 is a more modern card and I think I am edging towards this.
Any input guys?
Cheers,
Simon.

I'd go for the 6600GT.
I have one in one of my machines. Works a treat.

Hmm might not be the graphics card causing the problem, as I run CS:S and HL2 on a 9600 Pro (slightly OC'd at 398mhz core, 297mhz memory) at 1024*768*32 with no problems and all the details ramped up. (512mb PC2700, Northwood 2.4Ghz) It manages about 59fps on the stress test. What CPU/memory are you running ?

I get 57.83 fps on the stress test with athlon Xp running at 1800mhz / 768mb pc2100 ddr / 9600 pro 128mb.
The fact you have the same gfx card and get a similar test result but have a better cpu & memory, suggests it is the gfx card holding things back.
